I am required to get an SR22 car insurance and I would like to know if it is better to get it from my current auto insurance provider or get if from a different insurer?

Nice Question,
If your current insurance provider do fillings for the SR-22 car insurance, after being sure that you have at least the minimum liability limits that your state is requiring of you, the it would be much easier if you get it from your car insurance provider that you currently have.
If however your current insurance company will not file the SR-22 car insurance for you then you will need to find a different car insurance provider that does file SR22 car insurance will send in the SR22 certificate to the proper state agency on your behalf.
Current insurance carrier does not file SR-22 car insurance forms for policyholders you will need to cancel your car insurance policy with them. If they do not deal with SR22s then you will need to get insurance with an insurer that does SR22 filing and then terminate your current insurance once your new car insurance is in effect.Be sure to get the new policy before canceling the old one so you will not have a lapse on your auto insurance coverage
